Health Education Promotions and Classes
Jackson County Health Department Health Educators work to favorably
influence overall community health status by providing comprehensive and
coordinated health education programs to county residents, informing
residents of health risk factors and assessing, planning, implementing,
promoting, and evaluating health risk reduction strategies through wellness
programs and community wellness promotion.
The Health Education department keeps the community informed of important
health issues and available services, provides educational programs,
develops promotional campaigns, and distributes health related information.
Additionally, the department works to create and strengthen health
partnerships and collaborations throughout Eastern Jackson County.
Services Include:
- Health education to school districts for students,
parents, and staff (123 Move Program, Grow Live-Eat Wise Program)
- Smoking Prevention and Cessation
- Training and consultation services to child care
providers and families enrolled in child care programs
- Teen-mentoring program to promote wellness and
healthy life choices
- Health-related classes in areas such as obesity
and healthier lifestyles
- Seniors exercise and fitness programs
- Travelers health education
- Chronic-disease management classes (i.e. diabetes,
high blood pressure)
