Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are spread
through anal, oral, or vaginal intercourse.
Some STDs, such as HIV and Hepatitis B, can also be transmitted by
sharing drug paraphernalia.
Testing is important because often there are no
symptoms in the beginning. STDs
can have consequences ranging from mild to serious such as infertility,
tubal pregnancy, cancer and sterility.
Jackson County Health Department provides
confidential STD and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) testing during the
STD clinic. Treatment is
available as needed and high-risk reduction counseling is offered.
Most services and treatments given are free of charge except
prescriptions for medication.
Effective July 1, 2011,
a fee of $10 per patient will be charged for STD clinic visits, with a nurse
practitioner.
Confidential testing and treatment is available for:
- Bacterial vaginosis
- Chlamydia
- Genital Warts
- Gonorrhea
- Herpes
- HIV (testing only)
- Syphilis
- Trichomoniasis
*Photo identification is required for STD clinic services.

- Blood work for HIV or Syphilis
